Principal’s Message

Dear Parents and students,

Welcome back to another educational school year of Sirius College. We are very excited about the fresh start of a new academic year which we believe will bring success to our students, school and family community.

2017 was a very accomplished year for us. Our Sirius College Eastmeadows Girls Campus continued its VCE success with more than 17 students achieving ATAR results above 90. The success that they received represents years of hard work, commitment, dedication, and will mark a turning point in their lives. I would like to congratulate them for the outstanding ATAR and wish them all the best in the future.

During week 4 Sirius College presented "The Last Roll Call", a new spin on the previous VCE Awards Ceremony. Year 10 and 12 students enjoyed an afternoon filled with inspiration and passion. Comedian Khaled Khalafalla shared his experiences as well as giving a brief comedic segment; our students reacted very well to his antics. Our accomplished 2017 graduates discussed their achievements, goals and aspirations. Their eyes were full of stars, ready for their journey ahead. When seeing them growing up, enthralled with wonder and curiosity, I myself was overcome with emotion. Sirius College achieved the best VCE results in 2017. I would like to thank our teachers, in particular, Miss Inass and Mrs Kevser for their outstanding efforts for The Last Roll Call program. All students involved enjoyed the program profusely.

Sirius College warmly welcomes teachers new to the College in 2018:

Abdulkerim Elibol: LOTE Turkish
Bridie Wright: English & Humanities
Elizabeth Anne Borchman: Art
Linda Molinaro: English
Hamide Beytur: Maths
Seyma Yilmaz: Maths
Engin Eryilmaz: Science
Ahmad Helou: Science
Busra Karademir: Food Technician
Gokhan Ozkan: Physics
Yavuz Asik: LOTE Turkish

We would also like to welcome our year 7 cohort and students new to the school in 2018. The first few weeks can be rough transition for year 7s; new changes to class structures, school rules, and peer groups. This being the case, it seems our new students have overcome the obstacles in their new high school environment.

Sirius College has continued to proudly offer a Sports Scholarship in 2018; applications will be available in the forthcoming weeks. In addition to our sports scholarship, we are eager to introduce our inaugural Instrumental Music Scholarship. We congratulate our six students who have been selected for the scholarship: Sueda Turgut, Nahide Turkmen, Nesibe Lelik, Neda Eryilmaz, Jwan Karim and Fida Hamdani. The scholarship offers students an opportunity to study an instrument privately with a tutor for a year. Our aim is to have students specializing in an instrument, then creating an ensemble. Our students will create a band and string ensemble. We wish them all the best with their musical education.

Some school rules have been updated. Please pay attention to followings and go to our students' handbook for details. It is also available in SEQTA.

Lastly, congratulations to science elective students for becoming semi-finals in BHP Billiton Foundation Science Competition; Aleyna Azra Sahin, Eleeza Maqsood, Russel Alrubaiey, Beria Pelin Gunduz, Selin Dursun, Tasneen Gulnaaz Mohiddin, Mariyam Hussain.

Good on you girls. This year our aim is to achieve a place in the Intel International Competition.
